How we handle your data on our short-stay marketplace.

Kenya Airbnb Stays (“we”, “us”, “AirbnbHost”) operates www.airbnbhost.co.ke, a platform for discovering and requesting Airbnb-style short stays in Kenya. This policy explains what we collect and why.

1. Who this applies to

  • Guests — people browsing stays, sending booking requests or contact messages
  • Hosts / agents — people who register to list short-stay properties
  • Visitors — anyone viewing public pages

2. Information we collect

  • Account data — name, email, phone/WhatsApp, password (stored hashed)
  • Listing data — stay descriptions, photos, amenities, location, nightly rates, availability
  • Booking requests — guest name, contact details, selected nights, payment choice (reserve vs deposit), messages to the host
  • Payments metadata — subscription or deposit references you submit (we do not store full card numbers on this platform)
  • Usage data — pages viewed, device type, approximate location from IP, and basic analytics
  • Support messages — content you send via contact or support forms

3. How we use your information

  • To show stays, process booking requests and notify the relevant host
  • To operate host accounts, verification badges and listing tools
  • To prevent double booking where calendars and booking status are used
  • To improve the website, security and customer support
  • To comply with applicable Kenyan law and respond to lawful requests

4. Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share:

  • With hosts — when you submit a booking request or inquiry on their stay (name, contact, dates, message)
  • With service providers — hosting, email or analytics providers under confidentiality
  • When required by law — regulators or courts where legally necessary

Guest contact details are shared with the host of the specific stay you contacted — not published publicly on the listing page.

5. Photos & listing content

Hosts upload photos of their stays. We may apply a site watermark for brand protection. Hosts remain responsible for having rights to the images they upload.

6. Cookies & local storage

We use essential cookies/session data for login and security. Favourites and compare lists may use browser local storage on your device. Analytics tools (if enabled by the site admin) may set additional cookies.

7. Security

Passwords are hashed. Access to admin and host panels is role-based. You should use a strong unique password and log out on shared devices. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

8. Data retention

Account and listing data are kept while your account is active. Booking request records are retained as needed for dispute handling and platform integrity. You may request account closure by contacting us.

9. Your choices

  • Update your host profile and payment settings in your account
  • Request correction or deletion of account data where applicable
  • Stop marketing messages if you receive any (platform is primarily transactional)

10. Children

The service is intended for adults arranging accommodation. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18.
